Woman's body burned in Akhaura, suspect detained

A hole was dug at the Gazir Bazar area of Brahmanbaria's Akharua to burn a body. It is assumed the body belongs to an adult woman as there were bangles on her hand. Police have detained Farhan Rony, 27, in connection with this incident. 

Rony is the son of Akhaura South Union Jubo League General Secretary Shahnewaz Bhuiyan. Locals claimed that he was a drug dealer. 

According to eyewitnesses, some geese went missing from Enamul and Roman's houses in the Gazir Bazar area. While looking for the geese early on Tuesday, locals noticed smoke coming out of an abandoned shed on Shahnewaz Bhuiyan's land. When asked, Rony claimed to be burning leaves there. 

However, Enamul, Roman and their cousin Ubaidul were suspicious of Rony and wanted to check for themselves. This aggravated Rony, who threatened them. Locals then checked the shed and found a hole in the ground and a dead body burning in it. 

Police arrived after being informed. They recovered the body and detained Rony. 

Confirming the matter, Akhaura Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shahinur Islam said one person was burned. CID and PBI were summoned to identify the body.
