Jamaat leader killed in Joyputhat road crash

A man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Guabari Ghat area of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain, 35, son of Mafej Uddin of Teghra-Dandapani village of the upazila. He was a member of the Joypurhat Sadar Upazila Jamaat's Karma Parishad and president of the Bangladesh Workers' Welfare Federation, Sadar Upazila unit.

The accident took place when two motorbikes collided head-on in the area, leaving three people injured, said Shahid Al-Mamun, officer-in-charge of Joypurhat Sadar police station.

The injured were taken to Joypurhat General Hospital where Delwar succumbed to his injuries, he said.
