Factory boiler explosion burns 20 workers in Gazipur

A boiler explosion at a factory in Gazipur's Sripur has burnt at least 20 workers on Monday. 

The incident occurred at around 8:45am at the HDF Apparels Ltd factory in the Telihati Union. The names of the injured workers could not be confirmed immediately. 

All the injured workers were rescued and sent to several hospitals. One of them remained in critical condition. 

According to a worker at the factory, a mini boiler exploded in the sample section, which blew off the tin roof and shattered the Thai glass doors. The fragments of the glass injured some workers while the scalding water from the boiler also burnt some of them. The incident created panic among the workers. 

Shimu Chowdhury, a human resource official of the factory, confirmed the matter. However, he did not disclose any details. 

Sripur Police Station Officer in Charge Joynal Abedin Mondal also confirmed the matter.
