Head-on collision between trucks kill 1 in Joypurhat

Two trucks collided head-on in Joypurhat early on Sunday, killing the driver of one of the trucks. 

The deceased truck driver was identified as Enamul Haque, 35. The accident happened at the Thushigari (Brac office) area of Kalai on the Joypurhat-Bogura Highway at around 9:30am. 

Kalai Police Station Officer in Charge Jahid Hossain confirmed the matter.

According to police and eyewitnesses, all vehicles were plying on the highway with their headlights on due to low visibility caused by dense fog. The two trucks, one carrying sand and the other carrying cement, collided head-on due to the fog. The collision severely damaged the cabins of both trucks. 

Enamul, who was driving the cement-laden truck, died after being crushed under the steering. However, the driver of the sand-laden truck and his assistant managed to flee. 

On information, members of the police and the fire service rushed to the spot and recovered Enamul's body. 

The body of the deceased will be handed over to his family, the OC said.
