Ashulia gas cylinder blast burns 11 including women, children

A gas cylinder explosion in Savar's Ashulia burned 11 people, including women and children, on Friday night. Three of them are in critical condition. 

The injured were identified as- Sumon Miah, 30, Surjya Banu, 55, Johura Begum, 70, Monir Hossain, 43, Sohail, 38, Sheuli Aktar, 25, Sharmin, 25, Samin Mahmud, 15, Mahadi, 7, Swayed, 4, and Suraha, 3. They were given first aid at Ashulia Women and Children Hospital (AWCH). They were later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. 

According to locals and eyewitnesses, Md Sumon rents the second floor of Amjad Bepari's Residential Building in the Gomail area. He lives there with his wife and two children. On Frida, Sumon's mother and brother Sohail's family came to visit them. 

At around 10pm, the gas cylinder in the kitchen exploded and burned the 11 people in the house. Locals rescued them and brought them to the hospital.

Confirming the matter, AWCH Manager (Operation) Harun-or-Rashid said the 11 people were given first aid and then were referred to Dhaka Medical College Burn Unit.
