Explosion from gas leakage burns family of 3

Leakage from a gas cylinder has caused an explosion in a house in Ashulia of Savar early on Sunday. The incident burned three of a family, including a child. 

The blast occurred at the ground-floor flat of a two-storey house owned by Sohag Mondal in the Chalabazar area of Durgapur in Ashulia at around 6:30am. The three victims were identified as Md Jahangir, 40, Beauty Begum, 35, and their daughter Tanha, 5. 

Jahangir works at a medicine factory and his wife works at a leather goods factory. 

The family used LPG cylinders to cook their meals. According to locals, the explosion happened in the morning when the family tried to light the stove with an LPG cylinder. Locals rescued the family and rushed them to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital. After first aid, they were sent to Dhaka's burn institute. When contacted, the house owner Sohag Mondal said he does not live in that house and cannot say more about the matter.
