Miscreants attack Cox's Bazar Air Force Base, man shot to death

The Cox's Bazar Air Force Base was attacked on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. 

According to local administration, a man was shot to death during the altercation. He was identified as Shihab Kabir Nahid (30), son of Nasir Uddin of Pouro Ward no. 01 Samiti Para. He was a businessman. 

The attack was carried out by some miscreants from the Somiti Para area adjacent to the base, ISPR said in a message. It added that the Bangladesh Air Force is taking necessary measures regarding the attack. 

According to locals, a man from Kutubdia Para named Jahed Hossain engaged into a verbal altercation with the people in charge at an Air Force checkpost. Later, Jahed's family members arrived at the checkpost and started throwing brickbats at an under-construction Air Force Base and the members working there. 

A round of chase and counter-chase ensued and Shihab was shot in the incident. Locals rescued and brought Shaihab to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor declared him dead. 

Confirming the matter, Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin said one person was killed and several others were injured. The cause of the altercation can be found after talking with both parties.
