UPDF member killed in Rangamati gunfight

A member of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was reportedly killed in a gunfight between UPDF and Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) on Sunday morning.

The deceased UPDF member was identified as Nirmal Chakma, 37.

The incident took place at the Khamarpara Taimidung area of Manikchari under the Shapchari union of the district.

"Our one activist was killed following an attack by the PCJSS's armed member", said UPDF spokesman Angya Marma, adding "We are deeply condemned and protesting the incident and demanding arrest of the alleged killers."

The UPDF member has been killed during a gunfight between UPDF and PCJSS at Manikchari, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rangamati Kotwali Police Station, M Shahed Uddin Chowdhury. 

Police are on the way now and details will be known after recovering the body, said the OC.
