Workers block highway in Tongi demanding due wages

Workers of the BHIS Apparels Ltd. blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh in Tongi of Gazipur on Sunday, demanding their due wages. 

They blocked the highway at around 7am. After the joint forces intervened, they moved away from the highway and gathered in front of the factory at around 9am. 

According to the workers, nearly 1,300 people are employed in the RMG factory. They held a similar demonstration demanding their due wages of February on 11 March. The authorities paid them partially on 20 March. However, their full wages still remain unpaid. 

Confirming the matter, Gazipur Industrial Police-2 Tongi Zone Inspector Aminul Islam said the effort to reach a solution is underway.
