Lohagara accident: Prema succumbs to death

College student Tasnia Islam Prema succumbed to her injuries days after a massive accident in Chattogram's Lohagara which killed five people and injured 10 others on Monday (March 31). 

She breathed her last at around noon on Friday at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Chattogram Medical College Hospital, the hospital's Director Big Gen Md Taslim Uddin confirmed to the Daily Samakal. 

Aradhya Biswas, 6, a child who was also critically injured in the accident, was brought from this hospital's ICU to the Square Hospital in Dhaka on Friday afternoon. 

The accident occured when a bus and mini bus collided head-on at Zangalia Mazar Gate under Lohagara upazila on Ctg-Cox’sbazar highway on Monday. 

Witnesses and Lohagara police said the tragic accident in the morning of Eid-un-Fitr took place when a coach of the Soudia Paribahan collided head-on with a minibus coming from the opposite direction at Zangalia Mazar Gate under Lohagara upazila in the district in about 7 a.m.

Of the deceased, three died on the spot while two others died on the way to the local health complex.

The victims were identified as Md Azad, son of Md Parvez of Andarmanik village of Padua union, Rifat Hossen, son of Md Alam of the same locality, Nazim Uddin, son of Nurul Islam of Charpara of Padua union, Zian Hossen, son of Amir Hossen of Sukhchari of Lohagara upazila while another victim is Siddik, son of Abdus Satter of Deli Para under Satkania upazila in the district.   

Fire Brigade personnel and local people rescued the injured persons and sent them to the Lohagara health complex for treatment.

Both the vehicles were damaged severely and seized by police.
