Road accident kills 2, injures 10 in Kishoreganj

A speeding truck ran over autorickshaws and pedestrians at the Akbarnagar bus stand in Kishoreganj, killing two people and injuring 10 others. The crash on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab regional highway also killed at least 50 fowls. 

The two deceased were identified as Md Halim Mia, 60, of Akbarnagar village under Bairab upazila, and Angur Mia, 45, of Jagrarchar Munshibari of the same upazila. 

According to local and police sources, a Bhairab-bound wood-laden truck from Kishoreganj ran over the pedestrians around 8am at Akbarnagar Bus Stand Bazar, leaving two dead on the spot.

Besides, ten others were injured when two auto-rickshaws overturned during the accident. They were taken to different hospitals in the upazila for treatment.

Confirming the deaths, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhairab Highway Police Station Md Sahabur Rahman said police recovered the bodies and sent them to the morgue.
