Train collides with several vehicles on Kalurghat Bridge, kills 3

Three people have died and at least five others were injured after a train collided with several CNG-run autorickshaws and motorcycles on top of the Kalurghat Bridge in Chattogram late on Thursday night. 

The identity of one of the deceased was confirmed as Muhammad Tushar, son of Muhammad Abul Mansur from Bangla Para of Uttar Gomodandi in Boalkhali. Three of the injured were identified as Asif Uddin Bappi, Asma Ahmed, and Anju Ara. All five of the injured were admitted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital. 

Confirming the matter, Janalihat Station's Station Master Md Nezam Uddin told the Daily Samakal that autorickshaws and motorcycles were on top of the bridge. A vehicle broke down there, so the other vehicles could not leave the bridge in time. At around 10pm, the Parzatan Express train arrived from Cox's Bazar and hit the vehicles on the east end of the bridge. 

Three people including a child were killed in the accident, he said. 

When asked if the train broke the rules, Nezam Uddin said the rule is that the train should wait on the east end of the bridge and only cross the bridge after the lineman gives the signal. However, the train did not mind the signal and caused the incident.
