Covered van accident kills 3 including mother and daughter

Three people died when a covered van crushed them in Ishwardi of Pabna on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Suborna Khatun, 45, her daughter Purnota Rahman, 8, and lychee trader Anisur Rahman, 55, Ishwardi Police Station Officer in Charge Abdun Noor confirmed. 

According to eyewitnesses, Natore Sadar Upazila's resident former BGB member Mofizul Islam, along with his wife Suborna and daughter Purnota were passing the area on a motorbike when they stopped by the roadside to buy lychee from Anisur at the Mirkamari Munnar More area on the Dashuria-Kushtia Highway. Suddenly, a covered van crashed into them and then fled. 

Members of the fire service reached the spot and brought the injured to the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where the duty doctor declared Anisur, Suborna, and Purnota dead. Mofizul Islam is receiving treatment at the hospital. 

A case was filed in this matter, OC Abdun Noor said.
