Bus crashes into truck, killing 5

A speeding passenger bus hit a roadside truck from behind at Ghoraghat area of Dinajpur, killing 5 and injuring 5 more, early on Saturday. 

The accident occurred at around 4:20am at the Nurjahanpur area on the Dinajpur-Dhaka Highway. Three died on the spot while two others died on the way to the hospital. 

Three of the deceased were identified as Tamanna Aktar, 24, from Thakurgaon, Rajib Bhuiyan, 30, from Naogaon, and Aminul Islam, 35, the bus driver's assistant. 

Ghoraghat Fire Service and Civil Defence Warehouse Inspector Ataur Rahman confirmed the matter. 

According to police and eyewitnesses, a few mango-laden trucks were standing at the side of the road. A Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Panchagarh hit one of the trucks from behind. 

On information, police and fire service members rushed to the spot and recovered three bodies. The injured were rushed to a hospital. 

The matter is being investigated, Ghoraghat Police Station Officer in Charge Nazmul Haque said.
