Father, son killed in Sirajganj road crash

An elderly man and his son were killed in a road accident near the Chariya Madhyapara in Ullapara of Sirajganj on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan Khandaker, 70, and his son Jewel Khandaker, 35, resident of Purnabera village of Salanga Police Station.

According to the family of the deceased, Jewel was taking his father to a doctor in an auto-van when the vehicle broke down at around 7am. A Dhaka-bound truck from Natore ran them over. Both died on the spot. 

Confirming the matter, Hatikumrul Highway Police Station SI Alamgir Hossain said the truck driver and auto-van driver both fled the location after the incident. Police have seized the truck. The bodies are kept at the police station.
