Kaptai water flows above danger level, 16 spillways opened

The water level of Kaptai Lake reached the danger mark, prompting the authorities to open 16 spillways of the dam after midnight. 

According to the Kaptai Hydropower Plant authority, the lake's water level was at 108 feet till Monday afternoon as a result of rainfall and an onrush of water from upstream. As the water reached danger level, 16 spillways were opened 6 inches to prevent flooding. As a result, 9,000 cubic feet of water per second (CFS) is flowing out of the lake. 

Mahmud Hasan, the manager of the Kaptai Hydropower Plant, confirmed the matter.
