Bodies of 2 among 8 missing fishermen recovered in Chattogram

The bodies of two fishermen, who were among eight missing after a fishing trawler capsized near the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port in the Bay of Bengal, have been recovered.

Other fishermen identified the bodies as Azad and Idris. Their bodies were found floating near Patenga's 18 Ghat area around 5:30pm on Saturday.

Sadarghat Naval Police Officer-in-Charge Md. Arif confirmed the recovery.

The trawler named Anika had departed from Chattogram city's Fisherighat area with 19 fishermen on Thursday morning. Around noon, while heading towards the deep sea through the Patenga channel, the trawler was struck from behind by another fishing boat and subsequently capsized.

Eleven fishermen managed to survive by boarding a passing local boat and returning to shore, while eight remained missing.
