Arakan Army abducts 14 Bangladeshi fishermen, seizes 2 trawlers

Myanmar's Arakan Army (AA) armed rebels have allegedly abducted two fishing trawlers and 14 Bangladeshi fishermen from the Naikhongchari area of Teknaf on Sunday. 

Teknaf Kayukkhali Boat Owners' Committee Manager Sazed Ahmed said some fishing trawlers were returning to the ghat due to inclement weather when AA members took away two trawlers and 14 fishermen.

According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the Arakan Army has abducted at least 240 Fishermen from the area adjacent to the Naf River on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in the last eight months. The BGB helped bring around 200 of them back.
