Siddhirganj blast death toll rises to 6

Two more people have died after they were burned in an explosion in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj on August 23. The death toll in this incident now stands at six.

Salma Begum, 30, and Tanzila Aktar Tisha, 17, succumbed to their injuries at 10am and 12pm on Friday, respectively, at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. 

Resident Surgeon Dr Sultan Mahmud confirmed the matter. 

An explosion of a fridge's compressor due to an electrical short-circuit burned nine people of the same family, including women and children, at Siddhirganj of Narayanganj on August 23. The blast occurred at the tin-shed house of Zakir Khandaker in Painadi Muri Factory in Siddhirganj at around 3am.

The nine people were identified as Tahera, 65, Hasan, 37, Asma, 35, Salma, 30, Tisha, 16, Arafat, 13, Muntaha, 11, Jannat, 4, and 1-month-old Raiyan. All nine were from Cumilla's Debidwar.
