2 dead in Kaliganj as dump truck runs over autorickshaw

A dump truck ran over a CNG-run autorickshaw at Deopara Chattar area in Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur on Friday morning, killing two. The accident on the Tongi-Ghorashal Bypass road also injured three others. 

The two deceased were identified as Waliullah, 40 and Md Abu Taher, 38. The three injured were identified as Hafizur, 40, his wife Salma Begum, 35, and their son Tamim, 4. 

According to police and locals, the autorickshaw was carrying passengers from Shafipur. A dump truck from the opposite direction hit them at the Deopara Chattar area, killing two autorickshaw passengers on the spot. Three other passengers were critically injured. They were first brought to the Kaliganj Upazila Complex and later taken to the Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for better treatment. 

Confirming the matter, Kaliganj Police Station SI Md Rasel said legal procedures are underway in this matter.
