Collision between bus and RAB car kills 2, injures 21 in Patuakhali

A collision between a passenger bus and a Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) car has killed two people, including a child and an ASI, at Fatulla of Patuakhali. The accident at around 8:30am on Saturday also injured 21 others. 

One of the deceased was identified as RAB driver ASI Abdul Halim, 35. Those critically injured in the accident were admitted to the Patuakhali CMH and Patuakhali Medical College Hospitals. 

According to police and locals, some RAB members, along with their family members, were on their way to Kuakata on a minibus. A Dhansiri Paribahan bus collided with the minibus head-on at the Fatulla area of Patuakhali on the Kuakata-Dhaka Highway. ASI Abdul Halim died on the spot, while a child died on the way to a hospital. 

The bus was seized by police, but its driver and his assistant fled the scene. 

Patuakhali Addl Police Superintendent (Crime) Sazedul Islam Sajal confirmed the matter.
