Minor boy drowns in pond in Gaibandha

A two-year-old boy drowned in a pond at Goyalpara village under Gumaniganj union in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha district on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Sazid, son of Saiful Islam alias Dulu Master of the village.

Family sources said the child was playing on the bank of a nearby pond when he accidentally slipped and fell into the water. After failing to find him, the family members started searching and later recovered his body floating in the pond.

He was taken to the upazila health complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Thana Bulbul Islam confirmed the incident.
