Truck-motorcycle collision in Khagrachhari kills one

One person was killed and another sustained serious injuries as a mini-truck and a motorcycle collided head-on at Rasul area in Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari on Friday night.

Officer-in-Charge of Matiranga Police Station Md Toufiqul Islam said the accident occurred when a Dhaka Metro-registered mini-truck (Dhaka Metro-N 15-3454) heading towards Khagrachhari from Chattogram collided with a tourist-carrying motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Motorcyclist Tasib, 17, son of Shamsul Haque of Fatikchhari in Chattogram, died on the spot. Another rider on the same motorcycle, Tarek, 18, son of Nurul Islam of the same area, was critically injured.

Locals, police, and fire service personnel rushed to the scene, rescued the injured, and took him to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex. After primary treatment, he was referred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced care.

The mini-truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. 

OC Md Toufiqul Islam said the body of the deceased would be handed over to his family after completing all legal formalities.
