Fire on St Martin's-bound ship, 1 staff dead

One person died early on Saturday when a fire broke out on the Saint Martin's Island-bound ship 'The Atlantic Cruise" on the BIWTA Ghat at Nuniachhara of Cox's Bazar. 194 tourists who were waiting to board the ship remained unharmed. 

The deceased was identified as Noor Kamal, 35, a staff member of the ship. He was asleep in a room on the ship when the fire broke out. 

At around 7am on Saturday, the ship was about to anchor when a fire broke out suddenly. It was brought under control at around 11am. However, two units of firefighters, as well as volunteers and the Coast Guard, were working to fully douse it at the time of filing this report. 

Cox's Bazar Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Assistant Director Syed Muhammad Morshed Hossain confirmed the matter. He said the burnt body of a staff member of the ship was recovered, who was sleeping in a room. We are searching to see if there is anyone else. The cause of the fire could not be found immediately.
