2 killed in head-on collision between bus and truck in Bhanga

The driver and assistant of the truck were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a brick-laden truck in Bhanga, Faridpur. 

At least 25 passengers of the passenger bus were injured in the incident.

The accident occurred around 11:30 am on Saturday, near the livestock office in the Nowpara area of the Faridpur-Bhanga-Barishal highway.

Bhanga Highway Police Station OC Md. Helal Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said that the assistant of the truck was killed on the spot in a head-on collision between a brick-laden truck heading towards Bhanga from Faridpur and a passenger bus coming from the other direction. 

In addition, the truck driver was killed after being taken to the Bhanga Health Complex. 

At least eight to 10 passengers were seriously injured. They are admitted to the Bhanga Upazila Health Complex. 

Another 10 to 12 bus passengers received primary treatment.

The OC also said that the identities of the dead and injured were not initially known. Police investigation and rescue work are underway at the scene. Details will be announced later.

Md. Akter Hossain, a doctor at the emergency department of Bhanga Upazila Health Complex, said that two people were killed in the road accident. 

In addition, about 25-30 injured passengers have been admitted. Of them, eight seriously injured patients have been transferred from Bhanga Health Complex to Faridpur.
