Polling agent fined for buying votes with money

A polling agent has been fined Tk 10,000 by the Election Investigation and Judicial Committee judge in Faridpur for buying votes in favour of the paddy sheaf symbol. 

The incident occurred at the Bismillah Shah Darga Madrasa polling center in the Mamudpur area of the Faridpur-3 constituency. 

The individual fined is Tanjir Islam, who was serving as a polling agent for the paddy sheaf symbol. 

The sentence was announced by Md. Salauddin, the Chairman of the Election Investigation and Judicial Committee and Senior Civil Judge of Faridpur. 

Tanjir Islam is the son of Hafizur Islam from Deora village. 

According to the presiding officer of the center, Masuduzzaman, Tanjir was caught encouraging voters during polling to cast their votes for the paddy sheaf symbol in exchange for money. 

He was subsequently handed over to the Election Investigation and Judicial Committee, where he received the fine.
