3 Killed as Microbus overturns in Bogra, several in critical condition

At least three passengers were killed after a microbus overturned on the Dhaka-Bogra highway in Bogra’s Sherpur upazila today, Wednesday. The accident occurred around 7:30 AM in the Chonka College Road area under Bhawanipur Union.

According to Fire Service and local sources, one person died on the spot. Four others were rushed to the Sherpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where another victim succumbed to injuries. Later, a third person passed away after being shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMC) for advanced treatment. Several other injured passengers remain in critical condition.

Bakhtiar Hossain, Station Officer of Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defense, stated, "Upon receiving the news, we reached the spot and recovered one body. Four injured individuals were rescued and sent to the hospital in very serious condition."

Sub-Inspector (SI) Mortuza Noor of Sherpur Highway Police said that, primarily, it is suspected the microbus lost control and crashed into the road divider, leading to the casualties. The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be confirmed immediately.

Traffic on the highway was briefly disrupted following the accident. Police are currently working to keep the situation under control and ensure the normal flow of vehicles.
