Oxbridge Principal succumbs to gas cylinder leakage fire

Principal Shaheda Ahmed of Dhaka Oxbridge International School tragically died on Sunday morning after suffering severe burns in a gas cylinder fire at her village home in Sreepur, Gazipur.

The incident occurred on Wednesday night (March 25) during the Eid vacation. Shaheda Ahmed had gone to her ancestral village home in Gazipur’s Sreepur upazila along with other family members. While cooking in the kitchen, a gas cylinder suddenly leaked, causing a fire that quickly spread through the house. She sustained burns to about 55 percent of her body.

She was immediately rescued and first taken to Mauna Alhera Hospital for initial treatment, before being shifted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka. 

Despite receiving intensive care, including life support when her condition worsened, she passed away on Sunday morning.

Shaheda Ahmed was the wife of Professor Jasim Uddin, president of Gazipur High School. The couple resided in Dhaka.
