Oil lorry carrying 7,000 litres of petrol seized in Satkhira

Local residents in Satkhira have seized an oil lorry carrying 7,000 litres of petrol while it was being used for unauthorised fuel sales. 

The incident occurred around 10:30 pm on Sunday in the Gaba area of Brahmarajpur union under Sadar upazila. 

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed the details in a press release issued on Monday afternoon.

According to the release, the lorry belonging to Jamuna Oil Company had left Khulna in the afternoon carrying 7,000 litres of petrol destined for an oil pump in Debhata upazila of Satkhira. However, local people intercepted the vehicle in Gaba village when it was allegedly selling fuel illegally on the roadside. 

Upon receiving the information, Sadar police took custody of the lorry, which lacked valid documents for the oil, and brought it to the police station.

Satkhira Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Masudur Rahman confirmed the seizure and stated that the lorry remains in police custody. 

Three individuals have been detained in connection with the incident, and discussions are ongoing between district and upazila administrations regarding further action.
