Teacher arrested in a rape case of madrasa student in Netrokona

The RAB has arrested the teacher accused in the case of rape of a madrasa student (11) in Madan, Netrokona. 

He was arrested from Gouripur, Mymensingh, on Wednesday morning, 13 days after the filing of the case. 

Company Commander and Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shamsuzzaman, who is in charge of the media wing of RAB-14, confirmed this information.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madan Police Station Tariqul Islam said that the accused will be handed over to the police station by RAB. 

The accused teacher is a resident of a village in Madan upazila of Netrokona. According to the complaint, the rape incident took place in November last year. At one point, the victim girl told another teacher about the incident. The accused teacher then expelled the girl from the madrasa. After about five months, her mother asked the girl about the matter after seeing the change in her physical condition. Then she told her family about the rape.

On April 23, the girl’s mother filed a case against the two at Madan police station under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act. 

Since then, the accused teacher has been absconding. A video of his defence went viral on social media since Tuesday morning. 

He can be heard saying that although the girl once studied in the madrasa, he was not involved in the incident. He also wants the real culprit to be brought to justice.
