3 motorcycle riders killed in Dinajpur truck accident

Three motorcycle riders were killed in a truck accident in Dinajpur’s Ghoraghat upazila. Police have seized the truck and the truck’s assistant has been held.

The accident occurred around 9 am on Saturday in the Raniganj Bazar area of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Alamin, 15, son of Mosharraf Hossain of Nurpur area of the upazila, Saikat, 16, son of Salimuddin of Moglishpur village, and Qayyum, 20, son of Samesh Uddin of Afsarabad village.

Ghoraghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam confirmed the deaths.

The OC said that the truck carrying goods was going to Dinajpur around 9 am. When it reached the Raniganj Bazar area, the truck collided head-on with the motorcycle. Consequently, all three riders on the motorcycle were thrown off the road, killing one person on the spot.

One more died on the way to the hospital and the doctor declared another one dead after reaching the hospital. 

The OC also said that the truck involved in the accident has been seized. At the same time, the truck helper has been detained and taken to the police station. Preparations for further legal action are underway in this incident.
