Truck- autorickshaw head-on collision leaves three dead in Meherpur

Three people, including a child, were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a battery-powered autorickshaw in Alinagar area of Gangni upazila of Meherpur. 

The accident occurred in the Alinagar area of the upazila around 1 pm on Thursday.

The deceased are Arif Hossain, 45, son of Alauddin, an easy bike driver from Uttar Shalika village in Meherpur Sadar upazila; Afrin, 1, daughter of Mahin from the same village, and Abrar Hossain, 9, son of Sajib from Jessore town.

In addition, Mahin and his wife were injured and undergoing treatment at Kushtia Medical College Hospital.

Bamondi Fire Service Station Leader Md. Liaquat Ali and locals said that when autorickshaw driver Arif Hossain and several others reached Alinagar area on their way from Matmura village to Uttar Shalika village, it collided head-on with a Kushtia-bound truck leaving Gangni area. 

At least five people were injured in the incident.

Among the injured, autorickshaw driver Arif Hossain was rescued and Gangni and Afrin and Abrar were taken to Kushtia Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.
