Lighter ship carrying stones sinks in Karnaphuli, sailors rescued

A lighter ship named ‘MV Bay Harbor 2’ sank in the Karnaphuli River on its way to Dhaka from Chattogram with stones around 3 am on Tuesday. Twelve sailors of the ship have been rescued. 

The Chattogram Port Authority said that shipping is normal in the channel. 

Nasir Uddin, an official of the port, said, “The ship was going to Dhaka with stones. Suddenly it met with an accident. The Coast Guard launched an operation to rescue the missing sailors immediately after the lighter ship sank in the Karnaphuli Channel. However, all were rescued.”
