HSC examinees protest by blocking roads in Chattogram

HSC examinees protested by blocking roads in Chattogram to press home their three demands. Students of various colleges took up position in the city’s Sholashahar around 12 noon on Tuesday. At one point, they blocked the road and started shouting slogans.

Meanwhile, security has been strengthened in the Chattogram Education Board area to prevent any untoward incident during the students’ protest. Additional police have been deployed.

Protesting student Mahmudul Hasan said, “We are being treated inhumanely without considering the adverse situation.” Another student named Sumaiya Akhter said, “Many students are falling ill while taking exams in the rain. Even our essential educational equipment like calculators have been damaged in the water. How can the Ministry of Education be so inhumane without considering the overall situation?” 

At one stage, the students protested in the manner of Norway’s celebration after their victory in the World Cup. During this time, they raised fake slogans by driving boats.

The three main demands of the students include suspending the ongoing HSC examination until the adverse weather conditions normalise, making arrangements for re-taking the examination for those who could not participate in the examination due to adverse weather conditions on July 12 and 13, and providing the documents again from the board as soon as possible to those whose admit cards or necessary documents were damaged or lost due to rain.
