3 bodies recovered from Shitalakshya River

The bodies of three of the four individuals who went missing while bathing in the Shitalakshya River in Shibpur, Narsingdi, have been recovered. 

The recovery operations were completed by 2:00 pm on Saturday.

The deceased are Sourab, 20, son of Majnu Miah from Lakhpur village in Dulalpur Union, Shibpur Upazila; Obaidullah, son of Billal Hossain from Bhangal village in Kaliganj Police Station area, Gazipur; and Mst. Shanta, 16, from Phulbaria village in Kapasia Police Station area.

Shanta’s body was recovered from Saoraid in the Kaliganj Police Station area, located 12 kilometers downstream from the scene of the incident.

The incident occurred around 4:30 pm on Friday at Lakhpur village in Dulalpur Union, Shibpur Upazila. 

Md. Shanto, 24, son of Jewel from Tangail Sadar Upazila, remains missing. 

Divers, locals, and relatives are continuing the search and rescue operation in the river to trace him.

Md. Saiful Islam, Station Officer of the Shibpur Fire Service, confirmed that three of the four missing persons have been recovered and that efforts to locate the remaining individual are ongoing.
