Couple killed in Cox’s Bazar gas cylinder blast

A couple was killed and four others injured in a gas cylinder blast at Adinath Temple in Moheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The duo was selling gas balloons in front of the temple where a 7-day fair was being held on the occasion of Shiva Puja of the Hindu community, said Prodwip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Moheshkhali Police Station.

At one stage, the gas cylinder exploded with big bang at 11:15am, leaving the duo dead on the spot, the police official added.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
