Woman, son crushed under train in Mymensingh

A young woman and her minor son were crushed to death under the wheels of a train in Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh on Tuesday morning.   

The incident took place in Dhamail area near Gafargaon rail station at around 6:15am.   

The deceased were identified as Liza Akhter, 25, wife of Rajib Mondal of Dhalibari in the upazila, and their son Yeasin, 3.

According to the locals, the victim could commit suicide jumping before the running train following a family feud. Her husband went hiding after the incident.     

M Abdul Mannan Farazi, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Station, said Liza along with her son jumped before the Dhaka-bound ‘Jamuna Express’ train from Mymensingh around 6:15am, leaving them dead on the spot. 

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said the OC.
