3 die as truck, covered van collide head-on in Sirajganj

Three people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a covered van in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj on Sunday morning.  

The accident took place on the Nagarbari-Bogura Highway in the Dhatupur area under the upazila around 6:45am.

The dead have been identified as Rashidul Islam, 24, of Sariakandi upazila in Bogura, Abdur Rahman, 32, and Alamin Hossain, 20. 

Hatikumrul Highway Police OC Abdul Quader Zilani said that a Bogura-bound tin-laden truck crashed into a covered van headed in the opposite direction in the area.

Both vehicles overturned into a roadside ditch while three people, who were travelling on the truck, also fell into the ditch with the bundles of tin, said the OC. 

Police and fire service personnel went to the spot and recovered three bodies after conducting rescue operations for nearly an hour and a half, added the OC.
