2 killed as train rams bus at Ctg rail crossing

Two persons were killed and 25 others injured after a train rammed a bus on a rail crossing in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram early Sunday. 

The accident took place at the Bariarhat Rail Crossing area around 4:00am.

According to the witnesses, the Chattogram-bound Bijoy Express train hit an Alam Paribahan bus headed from Dhaka to Khagrachhari as it was crossing the rail tracks. The train continued to push the bus for nearly 50 metres before coming to a halt. Later, locals, police and fire service members recovered the bus passengers from the wreckage and sent them to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex. 

Muktar Hossain, a Sub-inspector of Jorarganj Police Station, said duty doctors of the health complex declared two of the injured dead.   

The train communication on the route was suspended nearly two hours following the incident, he added.
