3 to die for killing schoolboy in Kushtia

A Kushtia court has sentenced three people to death for killing a schoolboy in the district in 2011.
Judge of the Woman and Child Repression Control Tribunal Munshi M Moshar Rahman handed down the verdict on Thursday.
The death row convicts are Md Sabbir Khan, Helal Uddin alias Danny, and Abdur Rahim alias EPR.
Sabbir was present in the court during the verdict announcement while two others remain absconding.
Motasim Bin Majed alias Hridoy, a class eight student of Kushtia Zilla School, was kidnapped from the district’s Teghria Purbapara area on May 23, 2011.
The abductors demanded Tk 12 lakh in ransom from his mother Taslima Khatun over phone four days after kidnapping.
After negotiations, Taslima provided Tk 2 lakh to the abductors upon their promise of returning back Hridoy.
But after receiving the ransom money, the abductors didn’t return Hridoy .Then Taslima filed a case with Kushtia Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal.
In accordance with confessional statement of one of the accused arrested after 134 days of kidnapping, police recovered Hridoy’s body from near a brick kiln in 10 Miles area of Bheramara-Kushtia highway.
