UZ polls: Policeman shot in Chattogram

A police constable sustained bullet injuries during an attempt to wrest control of a polling centre in Chattogram's Chandnaish upazila on Sunday morning. 

The injured Constable Farhad Hossain of Chandnaish Police Station was admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said Keshab Chakraborty, officer-in-charge of Chandnaish Police Station.

He said a gang of miscreants swooped on the polling station at Purba Chandnaish Government Primary School for rigging before starting of the polling.

The miscreants opened fire when the police went to resist them, leaving on-duty constable injured with bullet, he added.
