Man hacks 4 to death before being lynched

Four people, including women and a child, were hacked to death allegedly by a ‘mentally retarded’ man who was subsequently beaten to death by local people at Radhanagar in Cumilla's Debidwar upazila on Wednesday. 

The victims were identified as Anwara Begum, 40, wife of Shah Alam, her son Abu Hanif, 12, Nazma Aktar, 36, wife of Nurul Islam, and Nurul Islam's mother Mazeda Begum, 55, while the mentally challenged attacker was identified as Mokhlesur Rahman, 35, son of Martuz Ali of the village.

Quoting local people, Zahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station, said Mokhlesur attacked the victims around 10:30am and hacked them indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, leaving them dead on the spot.   

Later, local people managed to catch him and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead.
