Rail link with Rajshahi remain suspended

Train communications between Rajshahi and other parts of the country remained suspended from Wednesday night following derailment of nine wagons of an oil-carrying train at Haldiagachi in Charghat upazila on Wednesday evening.

Zahidul Islam, station master of Rajshahi Railway station, said three of the wagons were removed on Thursday morning while operation to salvage the other tankers is going on.

The authorities concerned have cancelled the schedule of all trains for Thursday morning due to the derailment of the train.

Khandakar Shahidul Islam, General Manager of West Zone of Bangladesh Railway, said Abdur Rashid, an assistant executive engineer, was suspended after the incident. 

Earlier, nine wagons of the Chapainawabganj-bound oil-carrying train from Pabna veered off the tracks around 6:15pm on Wednesday, halting train movement with different parts of the country.
