Khulna GRP police station OC, SI closed

An officer-in-charge (OC) and a sub-inspector (SI) of Government Railway Police Station in Khulna have been withdrawn over the allegation of gang-raping a woman inside the police station. 

OC Osman Gani Pathan and SI Nazmul Haque were closed to Pakshey Railway Station on Wednesday morning. 

Firoz Ahmed, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Kushtia Railway Circle, said the OC and SI were withdrawn upon the direction of the senior authority. 

On August 5, a three-member probe body was formed to look into the alleged gang-rape of the woman by five railway policemen before she was arrested as a drug peddler.

The probe body, led by ASP Firoz Ahmed, was also asked to submit its report within seven working days. 

The woman alleged before the court that Osman Gani, along with four other members of police, gang-raped her inside Khulna GRP police station on Friday night. The medical tests of the woman have already been done as per the court directive.
