Collision between two buses leaves 8 dead in Thakurgaon

Eight people were killed and 25 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses in Thakurgaon Sadar upazila on Friday morning.

The road crash took place in Khochabari area on Panchagarh-Thakurgaon highway around 8:00am.  

The deceased were identified as bus driver Chaina, 28, Abdul Majid, 55, Abdur Rahman, 45, Mangali Rani, 70, Joba, 35, Bipul Chandra, Fatema and Mostafa.

The road crash took place around 8 am when a bus of ‘DipzolParibahan’ from Dhaka collided with another bus of ‘Nishat Enterprise’ coming from the opposite direction, leaving five people dead on the spot and many others injured, said AshiqurRahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

Twenty four injured people were taken to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared two people dead.

Later, 10 of the injured were shifted to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital while another injured victim died way to the hospital.
