Rajshahi Jute Mills stage rally to meet 11-point demand

Workers of the Rajshahi Jute Mills have started demonstration to realize 11-point demand, including implementation of the National Wage Commission.

Workers blocked the Rajshahi-Natore highway in Katakhali area, on the outskirts of the city, around 10:30 am on Monday, creating intense traffic on both sides of the highway. 

Later, police removed them from the highway and they held rally in front of the mill gate.

President of Rajshahi Jute Mills CBA-Non-CBA Sangram Parishad Zillur Rahman said they were staging demonstration to fulfill their 11-point demand, including implementation of the National Wage Commission, the cancellation of the decision of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP), getting the money of the PF gratuity of the retired workers and employees. 

Officer-in-Charge of Katakhali Police Station Zillur Rahman said, "The situation is normal at present. The workers are meeting at the mill gate after the removal of the procession from the road."
