3 JMB men to die for killing its self-proclaimed Ameer

A Chapainawabganj court has sentenced three members of the banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to death in the murder case of its self-proclaimed Ameer Ruhul Amin alias Salman. 

In addition, four members were sentenced to life imprisonment.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Shawkat Ali pronounced the verdict on Monday with the presence of six convicts.

Three convicts who are awarded to capital punishment are - Sanowar Hossain of Chanpara of Nachol upazila of Chapainawabganj, Jahangir Alam and Abdus Shukur of Balugram-Rajarampur of Gomostapur upazila of the district.

Life time convicted accused include Shamsul Haque of Gopalnagar of Gomostapur upazila, Abdul Motakabbir alias Bulbul of Chawkpustom village, Saiful Islam, and Shamim of Nimtala. Among them, Sanowar is absconding.

Additional Public Prosecutor Anjuman Ara said that the self-proclaimed Ameer Ruhul Amin alias Salman was killed on April 26, 2002 in the Kholsi-Boria area of Nachol upazila in the wake of internal conflict of JMB. 

Salman's house was in Dhanmondi of Dhaka. However, he was killed while staying at his father-in-law's house in Chanpara of Nachol.
