Freedom fighters' reception program in Brahmanbaria attacked

Miscreants have attacked the Victory Day programme at the Brahmanbaria Zila Parishad premises.

According to CCTV footage, a group of miscreants, covering mouths with clothes, swooped on the event at around 9am arranged to celebrate the Victory Day organized by the Brahmanbaria Zila Parishad.

They vandalized pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and left the scene without any delay.

However, no one was injured in the incident as the attack was made before starting the event. The celebration of Victory Day and a reception for the freedom fighters was set to start at 11 am. 

On information, Zila Parishad Chairman Shafiqul Alam and freedom fighters rushed to the spot and protested the incident.

Shafiqul Alam said, “Those who have vandalised the pictures of Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina are the real razakars. We urge the administration to find out the attackers and bring them under the trial. We will also take legal action on behalf of the Zila Parishad. ”

Later, the program was held with Brahmanbaria Zila Parishad chief executive Dewan Aslam Habib in the chair while Zilla Parishad chairman Alhaj Shafiqul Alam was the chief guest. 

Aslam Habib said, "It was a terrorist attack. The miscreants have vandalized the images of the father of the nation and prime minister. They have committed unforgivable crimes. The district council will take legal action in this regard."

At the end of the ceremony, 122 freedom fighters were given a sheet of warm cloth, a bag and a crest of honour.
