5 killed in Rajbari road crash

Five people were killed and two others injured in a collision between a bus and a Mahendra (three-wheeler) at Khankhanapur in Rajbari Sadar upazila. 

The accident took place around 3:30 pm on Sunday at Chhoto bridge area on Daulatdia-Khulna highway, said Officer-in-Charge of the Ahladipur Highway Police Station (OC) Masud Pervez.

The identity of the victims is not yet known. The injured - Mahendra driver Farhad and Kalipad Shil, a resident of Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur - were admitted to Goalanda Sadar Hospital.

According to local sources, a Khulna-bound bus of Green Line Paribahan from Dhaka collided head-on with a three-wheeler, locally known as Mahendra, while crossing Khankhana Chhoto bridge area, leaving five people dead on the spot and two others injured.

The OC said that efforts were being made to identify the victims. Police seized the bus, but the driver fled the scene, he added.
