Rape in MC College: Roni-Rajan, Ainuddin remanded for 5 days

Police have remanded Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Rajan and Ainuddin, accused in the case of gang-raping a housewife at the MC College dormitory in Sylhet, for five days for questioning.

Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate 2nd Court Judge Saifur Rahman granted his remand around 12 noon on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Prosecution) Amulya Kumar Chowdhury confirmed the matter to The Daily Samakal.

Earlier, prime accused over the incident Saifur, Roni and Robiul have been placed on five-day remand.

Sylhet Metropolitan magistrate Saifur Rahman passed the order as investigation officer produced them before the court and pleaded for placing them on seven days remand.

The victim’s husband filed a case on Saturday with Shah Poran Police Station here against nine persons with naming six on charges of involving with the rape incident.

According to locals, the victim along with her husband went to visit MC College on Friday afternoon.

The rapists violated the woman after tying up her husband in a room of the hostel, said the victim’s husband.

On information, police rescued the couple from the hostel.
